Mathieu Lustrerie

A week back in Apt has come and gone- and I have eaten three meals 'en famille francais' (twelve courses). When Becca and I got back to Apt on Saturday there was barely time to shower and get changed before I was out again to the house of Sylviane and Jean-Philippe, who had invited me to an exhibition of light and vintage cars. It was in the next village of Gargas, the museum of Régis Mathieu, the owner of Mathieu Lustrerie, who specialises in creating, copying and restoring chandeliers and light fixtures. This exhibition was his two passions put together- he collects very old cars (a bit wasted on me but I took some photos) and exhibits them alongside his unbelievable lights.

There is some information about him and pictures of his studio here:

And the cars:

After the exhibition I went back Chez Sylviane and Jean-Philippe and we ate together; quiche, salad, pizza, spiced apples, wine and coffee, and talked about France and places to visit and they insisted, whenever I was free on a weekend we would plan to go somewhere in the area, and they would show me around the various chateaus and landscape. A very nice evening was spent and then I went home, to enjoy a leisurely Sunday and prepare for my second week of school.
